He turned down Captain America. Will Garrett Hedlund take Daredevil film reboot?
The amazing artist rendering of Garrett Hedlund-as-Daredevil has been circulating online.
Will the artist please come forward? We would love to credit such amazing talent and vision!
(LOS ANGELES) New news emerged this week and over the last few months about Marvel Comics plan to make another Daredevil movie franchise. One of it’s more popular characters was a blind vigilante acrobat who leaps from buildings and kicks the shit out of bad guys. Could a ProScout former discovery become yet another film superhero?
The company tried this once before with Ben Affleck a few years ago, but he may not have been the right guy for the role. Less than a year ago Marvels movie line really wanted Garrett Hedlund to star as Steve Rogers in the First Avenger movie, but Hedlund’s agents didn’t want a long term agreement. At the time it was a 9 picture deal, too much for the 26 year old actor who was already shooting Tron Legacy. So, Chris Evans became Captain America and Tron went on to be a big picture hit for Disney. Perhaps Hedlund would have taken a two picture deal.
Daredevil is a dark comic, the scenes are always night time or rainy, and Matt Murdock aka Daredevil’s character comes off the same way. That’s Hedlunds style. Hedlund has a deep resonant voice, and can play a dark side as seen in Death Sentence, where he played hard assed and heartless gangster Billy. But as we’ve seen, Hedlund also has lead star appeal for big budgets like Tron; even romantic ballads like Country Strong.
Check out his often overlooked role in “Georgia Rule”, where his character’s Mormon conflictions must fend off a fellatio advance from soon to destruct Lindsay Lohan. Classic. This young actor has range, and a easy-to-identify with appeal.
We’ll see what Disney / Marvel has in mind soon enough. But it is clear Hedlund has the acting range. Maybe Captain America wasn’t right for Hedlund and Affleck wasn’t right for Daredevil.
But we’re hoping that Garrett Hedlund can become a Marvels hero for hire as the new DAREDEVIL! After all, look how awesome the much needed reboot for Batman was with conflicted Christian Bale bringing his dark side…

That image was not drawn by an artist with Hedlund in mind. This was drawn at least over a year ago (or even longer) for the comic “Daredevil: the man without fear”
Sorry folks.
PS: there are so many better comic book characters for Garrett Hedlund to play.

I agree with Jack. I really hated the first Daredevil film and am skeptical about this possibly being redone again …Garrett can do WAY better than a Daredevil remake.
