The rumors have been flying about Garrett possibly being cast as Finnick in Catching Fire and today those rumors have been even more intense because the Garrett on facebook posted about Finnick. As most of you know, Garrett isn’t on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Myspace, Google+ or any other social networking site past, present or future. He also doesn’t have an Official Facebook page run by his publicist or anyone else connected to him. I’ve talked to Garrett about it and it’s an impostor, I promise.
This quote from an interview pretty much sums it up:
Twitter or Facebook?
G: Neither. I don’t do any of them.
There’s a fake Garrett Hedlund on Twitter.
G: People keep asking me why I don’t respond to them on Twitter and nobody can seem to believe that it’s not me. And they say, “Yeah it is. It’s your picture” and I’m like, “You’re such a fool.” As long as people know it’s not me, they can finally realize that this person’s silly and psychotic.
As for whether or not Garrett is going to be cast as Finnick – your guess is as good as mine. Any announcement about that will come from the studio in the form of a press release that is timed to go out through the major industry publications like Variety.
I’m sorry if any of this comes across as harsh – I don’t mean for it to. It’s more of a frustration that this person has been pretending to be Garrett for several years now, tricking his fans, friends and family. As I wrote before, we are all here because we support Garrett and his career and I hate to think of anyone taking advantage of that, for whatever ulterior motives they may have.
Thanks for understanding :)

I support Garrett and I really hope he’ll be cast as Finnick. As reader of Suzanne Collins’ books, I think he’s the perfect Finnick. The waiting is frustrating and rumors are worse (I hate fake accounts). This character is so magnetic, so touching, and his relationship with Peeta and Katniss.

I love Finnick too – he’s easily my favorite character and I pictured Garrett when I read it. Unfortunately, 9.9999999 times out of 10, the casting never matches what the fans want. Garrett would be perfect at capturing all the layers of Finnick and not just making it about how pretty he looks in the sun and how arrogant he can sound offering Katniss a sugar cube.

What I can’t wait to see in Garrett as Finnick it’s his vulnerability, , how much he was broken by the Capitol, how much he is willing to do to destroy it.
As for casting, Garrett or his representatives still haven’t confirmed or denied it. And if Garrett haven’t been interesting in the casting process he would have already denied it yet, just like Taylor Kitsch did.
